HISTORY OF OLIVE LEAVE EXTRACT
From it’s early origins as a traditional herbal remedy in the early
1800’s to research done by pharmaceutical companies in the 1960’s, Olive Leaf
extract from the Olive tree has been identified as a powerful ally against the
common cold, flu, yeast infections, heart problems, high blood pressure and the
seven known herpes viruses including Epstein Barr.
The fight against infections
Olive Leaf extract is vitally important for our already overloaded
immune systems. The Hungarian government has adopted Olive Leaf extract for its
Medicare system as its official anti-infectious disease remedy. Dr Robert Lyons
of Budapest has conducted an extensive clinical study on 500 patients with a
variety of infections such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, herpes and
bacterial skin infections. After being treated with Olive Leaf extract, the rate
of recovery was around 98 percent. All patients were found to have a
strengthened immune system and no side effects were recorded.

Intensive use for winter ills
Olive Leaf extract has been shown effective against many viral,
bacterial, fungal and yeast infections. At the first indication of an infection,
cold or flu regardless of whether it is bacterial or viral, an initial intensive
dosage regime of 2 or 3 capsules of Olive Leaf extract three or four times a day
may be taken for two or three days and then the recommended dosage.
Antibiotic resistant bacteria
Once believed to be a cure-all, the abuse of antibiotics is now
realised to have resulted in super strains of antibiotic resistant bacteria that
are increasingly more difficult to treat. Because antibiotics kill both the
friendly and unfriendly bacteria, they can upset the delicate balance of our
body’s natural defences. The result is that unwanted yeast and fungi may
flourish resulting in disease and illness. Olive Leaf extract has proven
effective in helping control various fungi and yeast infections as well as
bacterial infections.
Olive Leaf Extract for circulation and a healthy heart
Hypertension (high blood pressure) and cardiovascular disease are
common disorders. An important component of Olive Leaf extract is oleuropeside
which has been shown to act as a vasodilator of blood vessels. Research has
shown that Olive Leaf extract may reduce blood pressure, increase coronary blood
flow and alleviate cardiac arrhythmia.
Diabetes and blood sugar regulation
Olive leaves have traditionally been touted as an antidiabetic
agent. Scientists have demonstrated that the oleuropeside content is responsible
for its blood sugar lowering activity. Diabetics should closely monitor their
blood glucose levels when taking Olive Leaf extract.
Gout and uric acid
Gout sufferers have high uric acid content in the bloodstream
causing crystals to deposit in the joints creating swelling, warmth, redness and
exquisite tenderness. Uric acid may also precipitate in organs, such as the
kidney, where gravel or stones may lead to obstruction. A report in the Belgian
Pharmacology Journal (March-April 1994) recorded uric acid lowering activity in
Olive Leaf extracts.
Side Effects – The Detoxifying Effect of Olive Leaf Extract
Some individuals may experience symptoms of detoxification
resulting from stored toxins being released back into the blood through using
Olive Leaf extract. Symptoms of detoxification are natural and may include
headaches, muscle and joint aches, skin rash or sensitivity, irritability,
nervousness, fatigue and mental dullness. If symptoms arise, proceed slowly by
reducing the number of capsules being taken and then gradually increase the
dosage when symptoms subside. Drink plenty of water daily to help prevent and
also relieve these symptoms.
